It gives me immense pleasure to finally scribe this piece after a long festive dhoom dhaam and a little peace i could find in my little bee hive.
Sarcastic to say there are few more festivals awaited before this year ends. This in fact is a silence before a bigger festivals' bang and loads of preparation for Diwali and New Year.
People already in long waiting list for their reservations to get confirmed, brokers already packed with advanced bookings and the young generation planning their trips for more saucy Goa trips and traditional Diwali celebration.
I am a resident of a country with vivid cultures, dogmas, believes and celebration almost for everything which happen new or in a different way. We have celebration over victories, over failures, on child birth which makes sense but on the day when the child takes his first meal(we call it annaprashan) this seems a little weirdo but cant help these rituals being carried over generations. On the top of it i stay in a city which people call it amchi mumbai( My Mumbai),I was a little kid when i heard this may be in TV.
Amchi which signifies mine, signifies bond, signifies belonging this is what i used to think as a kid. A city that never sleeps, i had often heard this during adolescence , during graduation and would
have continued hearing that until i would have not been to Mumbai. Definitely this was not my dream city unlike Delhi where i wanted to spend rest of my life.
May be it was God's master plan to teach me worldly lessons here in this city of dreams. Mumbai indeed is a great name to hear and if you are associated with this city people bow before you, because this city
teaches life's lesson. Apparently all these things made no significance to me initially but it had started to play her game, the Mayanagari game.
She never sleeps and that was correct too. From morning 4:00 am to late night 4:00 am bars, discos, restaurants, commutation everything is at door step provided you have heavy pockets to shed off.
Amazing night life, amazing food, amazing roads and amazing us. Definitely, to enjoy the variants you have to be variant..
In not much time i realized that people here dream and they dream big. Patient and hard working enough to wait for their right time to come, opportunistic and a self believer.
The most interesting part about this city is u will find everything all glamors to all shod-dies, all fun to all depress, all food to no food, menial work to big business and the only thing which is in abundance is people.
People people everywhere God knows where to put the feet. The only thing which scares me is the loneliness within the people. I have looked closed in their eyes, the fear of losing a closed ones, the fear of loosing a job the fear of losing a companionship, the fear of losing the only roof for which they have spent their entire life.
However glamorous this city looks, however lavish the life looks this city takes everything in advance before it gives.
Amchi mumbai....meri mumbai...
